Not true.
I have tested this with several websites I own and never had a problem with google. You may have trouble if all the backlinks you generate for your website are automated.

Can you provide some example?

Better provide a dump email and prepare for mass spam and the need to confirm submissions with more opportunity for spam.

Most of those link directories are made for the purpose of spam and hoping to trick people in submitting to them.

Or do you really think you get your link in upto 8,000 link directories? I've seen quite a few submit services who do this for free and hope to share in the spam opportunities.
