False Links/Sponsor'd Links on Sites

Always wanted to ask this but you know when you search on a site like filestube and it always comes up with 3 or 4 False or Sponsored links at the top that lead to another site where you select a server and then it requests you pay. Is there a technical name or common term for this type of link? Does anyone actually make any money on said links?

I'm sure they do but as they are always false it kinda only works once I'd guess and only on noobs.
