UK Pirate Party More Popular Than Government on Facebook

Last month the UK Pirate Party announced that they had become officially registered. Now just weeks later the party?s popularity is increasing ? they now have more Facebook supporters than the Labour government.

During August the UK?s Pirate Party became officially registered at the Electoral Commission. The biggest challenge left for the party in the short term is to increase its membership.

?Now the party can really start. It?s time for us to tell the world that we exist, to recruit members, raise funds and gear up to fight the General Election,? Pirate Party Chairman, Andrew Robinson told TorrentFreak earlier. ?The officers and web team have built the framework that the party needs to get going, now it?s time for the public to make things happen,? he added.

One of the things Robinson asked people to do was join the party?s Facebook group ? something which supporters have been quick to do.

?It appears the Pirate Party is more popular than the Labour Party, at least on Facebook,? says PP?s Cabalamat.

?Our group there ? at the time of writing ? has 6364 supporters, whereas Labour?s has only 6356. And the Pirate Party has only been in existence for a month,? he adds.
