Default Apple is close to updating the old mac pro finally

The long forgotten Mac Pro. We have seen several other products refreshed and updated, but the Mac Pro hasn?t been updated for 567 days which by Apple?s standards is a long time. According to the people over at MicGadget, the Mac Pros will be updated this fall adding some awesome new features to them.

Out with the old processors and in with the hot off the press Intel Ivy Bridge processors. These processors which are set to be released by Intel in April are rumored to be the next brains powering the Mac Pros. These are also going to solve that nasty overheating issue that some people have been having with other Intel processors by using a new 22nm manufacturing process and the old transistors are being replaced with ?tri-gate? transistors. These new ones offer a 30% or more efficient with heat dissipation than the Sandy Bridge processors. These Ivy Bridge processors are rumored to be 8 cores and have a huge 20 MB of cache in them!

However a bump in processing power isn?t the only thing that we can expect, look to a whole new level of graphics. Apple decided to go with ATI graphics in their previous models of iMacs, and upon the launch of them back in 2009 customers saw many issues. These included screen flickering, artifacts, overheating, cracked screens and more. I doubt Apple would want to make the same mistake twice, and this report claims they will be going with Nvidia graphics for the Mac Pro.

Nvidia has their next line of graphics called ?Kepler? planned for release near the release of Intel?s Ivy Bridge processors. This is great for everyone, including myself, who use their Mac computers to run Adobe products, as the special graphics engine only supports Nvidia. This is also true for those who use CUDA based programs as they are only supported by Nvidia.

Now while these changes may not happen until the third quarter or fall, I think these changes are definitely worth the wait! Do you think these changes are worth the wait?
