Default George Lucas reveals his opposition to SOPA/PIPA

George Lucas reveals his opposition to SOPA/PIPA
    By John Callaham

Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace is about to be re-released to theaters in 3D. However you may feel about the prequel trilogy to the Star Wars movie series, one still has to admire its creator, George Lucas. He has always been a maverick in the Hollywood movie industry, making movies and doing things his way, sometimes in opposition to the normal movie industry rules. He also runs against the film business grain when it comes to his views on the Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect IP Act.

In a new interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Lucas is asked point blank about his views on SOPA and PIPA and piracy of content in general. Lucas states:

Everybody wants movies, everybody wants television shows, and everybody wants digital media. It?s just up to the government to sit down with both sides and write a reasonable bill. I think what they?ve got now is a flawed bill, which is not unusual, but that?s all it is: sloppy legislation. Which has to be fixed.
Officially the votes on both SOPA and PIPA have been delayed indefinitely in the US Congress. However, there appears to be a more recent effort in the US Senate to revive at least some aspects of SOPA under a new bill that's supposed to be about cyber-security.
