nooky.us1 - You don't have to go into Dos. Windows can handle this.
Open Windows Explorer. Then click on Organize -> Folder and Search Options -> View -> Uncheck Hide Extensions from Known File Types.
Now you rename from within Windows Explorer
2 - Netload does automatically ban .mp3 and .mp4 extensions. So if you want to upload any of these files, you got to give them another extension to 'fool' the server.
This method is as old as the existence of Netload.

Changes the extension of all MP3 into an unknown MPX file. Applies to all files that are located next to this batch.
