Anonymous briefly takes down CBS.com
By John Callaham
Anonymous has been on a huge cyber attack hunt on various web sites since Thursday when the US government shut down the Megaupload web site. On Sunday, the hacker group admitted via the YourAnonNews Twitter page they were behind an attack on the CBS.com web site. The official web site of the US broadcast TV network was down for about 20 minutes on Sunday.
Unlike the distributed denial-of-service attacks that Anonymous launched on Thursday against the official web sites of the Department of Justice, the FBI and others, the cyber attack on the CBS.com site seem to actually delete the entire content of the site. For a few minutes on Sunday, visitors to the site only saw an index page with a single file, foundry.html. Anonymous even posted an image of the CBS.com site, shown above, to illustrate their work. So far CBS has yet to comment on the attack.
It looks like Anonymous will be continuing these hit-and-run attacks on various government and media sites for a while in their quest to protest the Megaupload case. The group also seems to have found new ways to launch these attacks than just their standard DDoS tactic.ShareShiz Reviewed by ShareShiz on .
