Default [Benchmarking] Average Network Speed of some of the Popular File Hosts

Well, I have a download speed of 11 MBps (Megabytes per second) and an upload speed of 6 MBps, and here's my benchmarking of all the hosting sites I tried as a "Free User":

    Download Speed
    More than 1 MBps
    Rapidshare: 10.6 MBps
    MediaFire: 10.3 MBps
    MegaUpload: 9.8 MBps

    Less than 1 MBps
    Hotfile: 768 kBps
    FileServe
    : 600 kBps
    FileFactory: 378 kBps
    FileSonic: 300 kBps
    BitShare: 295 kBps
    Uploading: 259 kBps
    FilePost: 147 kBps
    FileJungle: 122 kBps
UploadStation: 80 kBps (might having issue in the nodes... cuz its unusually low...)

    Upload Speed
    More than 3 MBps
    Hotfile: 6 MBps
    Rapidshare: 5.4 MBps
    MediaFire: 5 MBps
    FileSonic: 3.6 MBps
    FilePost: 3.6 MBps
    FileServe: 3 MBps

    Less than 3 MBps
    Uploading: 2.8 MBps
    FileFactory: 2.8 MBps
    BitShare: 2.5 MBps
    FileJungle: 2.1 MBps
    UploadStation: 2 MBps
    MegaUpload: 600 kBps

    Hope it helps!
P.S. The results might not be accurate and its "average" neither maximum nor minimum.

You can?t compare like that. You will always have more speed at some hoster which server are located in your area

I have already mentioned that the results are not accurate
and yes, most of the servers of these hosts (except RS) are in USA...

what is the point of posting this other than I get X speed at blah blah server and X speed at Blah blah server. ?

The speeds you get at your location can be completly different than someone 1500 miles from you.

If you are looking for a fast server for your connection, this is the right way to do it. Instead, many just ask "which server should I buy"? Want works for one may not work for someone else in terms of speed.

What are you going to do with this informtion anyway?

"hope it helps". For who?? I would not care to use this information at all unless you lived in my basement, then we will have similar speed results.

I just compared the speeds of different filehosts from a fixed location and shared the variables.. I've already mentioned that it might not be accurate...

and I guess you are confusing speed with ping... because I have checked the speed with speedtest.net from 20 different locations (Texas, Florida, Amsterdam, Torronto, Singapore, Brazil, South Africa, UK, Italy, India, Bangladesh, China etc) and all of the download speeds were same (except for BD and three others) and only the ping was different.

What am I going to do with the info?
I just chose my file host with this info...

    "hope it helps".. for who?
For those who'll find this helpful (I guess its not for you )
