Hide stupid sections

the problem is not the filtering, it is remembering each and everybody's settings. It would require an extra sql query at the least, if not storing it in cookies (i doubt there is enough space for that), and i'm not too sure how difficult it would be to "Plug it in" to the current recent replies, since it already has a pruned list (dont show staff area, etc).

It is possible the admins just need to take those forums 'id' out of the latest post,

I agree its getting down right ridiculous.

I don't think it would be too difficult to create, especially considering vBulletin has the usergroup conditionals.

something like

if usergroup1optout==true;
latestpostsbox();

We are talking about whole unique 40K users rather than just few usergroups here. But i think we can store the selected board/forum ids in the user db and can display the boards accordingly.
