They are not forced, they are all brain washed. Believe it or not many people in North Korea really loved their leader 'cause they were taught so, and about the punishment and oppresion, they were also taught since they were born that some normal things (to us) are wrong and that they should be severely punished, so that is normal for them.

Dictators kill and torture their own people to rule, and they get the majority of the wealth for them selfs and their families keeping the people on bad conditions, I don't see any reason to respect a dictator
