cashlegion.com5970 Fan Sounds insane - need Replacement[10$ Reward]
Hey All, need some help.
I have an ATI HD5970 2gb Card, and now its worse than ever. Making Noise that can be heard OUTSIDE my house. Its nuts.
Cant be RMA'd as its out of warranty now, so im looking for a replacement fan. All after-market coolers ive found have been discontinued for some retarded reason. and Normal replacements of the shitty fan is very rare to come accross.
[And im not paying like $70+ inc shipping on ebay for a fan, thats crazeh]
Normal Idle temps exceed 70C. Unless the other 4 Case fans are going 100%, then its around 45C Idle. Ive tried different speeds in CCC for the GPU and its all the same noise. . . But without it, its pushing 120C Playing a game then bluescreens or hard-shutdowns automatically.
So any suggestions?
Much appreciated.
Will pay $10 via Alertpay for a decent solution, Or supplier of a fan.cpad3m0n Reviewed by cpad3m0n on . 5970 Fan Sounds insane - need Replacement[10$ Reward] Hey All, need some help. pull out your GFX card, get screw driver, detach fan, turn it upside down, on the middle, there is a small hole, probably covered either with sticker, or something else, remove it, put a drop of car oil, return sticker, blow off dust from it with air compressor, return all shit back, no noise...

cashlegion.comProbs should have mentioned i took it apart last night, and its more than just a few screws. You need to take Everything apart to get to the fan, inc like 50 screws..Took about an hour. Anyways, No use, even after re-gluing the fan wire, and oiling around the fan bearings etc.

Well, if this video doesn't help you, nothing can, except fan replacing. Did you checked is there something like wire, that is on the way of fan? check other videos that go along with this one.

cashlegion.comThat was my first idea, thats why i took it apart and secured the wire 100% with Thermal Glue. Its not that defo. Other options is the bearings which is common in 5970's...But as said, replacements are Rare, and aftermarkets have been discontinued.
Im not going to just throw out a ?600 card...Need another way.

As cvrle77 said, you can buy a new fan set for the card, and the installation is pretty easy. The whole process took me around 30-40 minutes, but I had to open my case, remove the gfx card, remove the old fan and the whole front cover, clean the dust and the VRAM chips, mount the new heat sinks and screw on the new fan. My temperature dropped from 100C (in load) and 80C (idle) to 55C (in load) and 44C (idle). I have 8800GT and the cooler is Arctic Cooling - Accelero Twin Turbo Pro
