I use Windows XP. I tweak it to its limits, removing all the random windows bullshit that i really don't need.. No stupid effects that slow down performance, no visual theme etc.. Basically, my PC right now is consuming 300MB's of RAM.

I have actually never modified my windows....Nor will do in the future. And for me appearence does not matter, but performance does.

i keep it simple. dont really customize anything. i like the default windows 7 look. but ill make some custom shortcuts and do some tweaking. but its mainly for performance.

In XP there was a massive point to customise since there was/is so many things that are just stupid. Windows 7 on the other hand I see no reason to do so, any machine that can run it properly will have 3GB of RAM at least (I have 12GB) so why bother?

it depend on what OS you are using if you use XP then customizing is must have to boost your computer performance

I customise it in the way that I right click the taskbar, go to properties and selected "Never combine"

I just change the settings, never try to mod anything!
