I have western digital my book 3.0 which is pretty cool, but its heavy i wouldn't exactly call it portable its more like an external drive, for portable i have Western Digital My Passport Essential 500 GB USB 3.0/2.0 Portable External Hard Drive (Midnight Black) and it`s awesome and fast and super light!

western digital is like a tank built strong and tough... Nothing can beat WD hard drives

i've had THREE WD externals shit the bed on me so i'd never buy one of them again.
personally i've great luck with laptop HDDs with cheap aluminum enclosures.

yeah buy high speed hdd, case with enough spec and use as portable. I got cheaply 2.5 seagate 500 7.2 (they are crap but price is low..), and bought 2.5 logilink alium case... Works like a charm and saved myself $50 Also it is good that you can change then every time with laptop hdd.... Seagate warranty 6 years... case 2 years ( but they never fail).....
